3.12.1 APPLICATION
This document is applicable to Vessel Managers, Masters, Chief Engineers, and Chief Officers for fully managed vessels.
3.12.2 PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to highlight items that must be checked and verified to be in order before a vessel, which is in dry dock, is refloated.
3.12.3 ITEMS TO BE VERIFIED BEFORE REFLOATING
- Repairs completed. Outstanding items, if any, must not require re-docking.
- Bottom plugs. All bottom plugs and other plugs are fitted.
- Sea chest, sea inlets & other overboard arrangements. Additionally, verify that covers/gratings are in place and secured.
- Remove temporary plugging arrangements.
- Rudders. Inspection plate refitted, plug refitted, and anodes are installed.
- Propeller, propulsion and manoeuvring systems, including thrusters, are boxed up, secure, free from obstruction.
- Chief Engineer to verify rope guard is fitted such that divers still have access to measure tailshaft weardown during in-water survey.
- Shaft sealing systems are boxed up.
- Painting and Coating. All areas coated and cured.
- Corrosion Protection:
- Anodes fitted, secured, and cover removed (if ICCP is not installed).
- ICCP anodes are fitted in position and cover removed.
- Sensing devices and transducers (echo sounders, speed log etc.) are fitted and covers are removed.
- Anchor & anchor chain is secured on board.
- External connections (shore water supply, shore power cables) are removed.
- Loose items are secure both on deck and internally. Sea fastenings, where applicable to be verified.
- Soundings of all tanks and spaces to be as per requirements of Docking Master to achieve vessel stability and draft conditions.
- Emergency generator and emergency power generation and distribution systems are in order and ready.
- Watertight closing devices (doors, hatches, hatch covers, ramps, etc.) are closed and secure.
